Books have always been the steady thread in my life — in my classroom, on my nightstand, in long conversations that linger. Now, at fifty, I’m beginning a new chapter of my own: writing my first novel and learning the rhythms of publishing. It’s new. It’s a little nerve-wracking. And it feels pretty good.
